Set against the backdrop of Rachmaninov’s iconic Piano Concerto No. 2 – reimagined with a contemporary score by Pascal Schumacher and the visceral sounds of The Plant Philharmonic – this bold creation by associate choreographer Elisabeth Schilling challenges the boundaries between human artistry and nature’s virtuosity. Performed by an all-female ensemble, the piece unfolds as a dance of reciprocity and adaptation, reflecting the fluid, networked intelligence of plant life. But, within the structured confines of the theatre, Sensorial Symphonies also questions if human spaces can become sites of reconnection, where nature and culture converge. Une œuvre puissante qui fusionne l’intensité émotionnelle du Concerto pour piano n°2 de Rachmaninov, revisité et réinventé par les compositions inédites de Pascal Schumacher, enrichies par les éléments sonores de The Plant Philharmonic. En créant une œuvre chorégraphique dans laquelle elle nous donne à voir et à sentir l’intelligence et la complexité du monde végétal, Elisabeth Schilling pose la question de notre relation au vivant. Un projet où l’artiste associée aux Théâtres de la Ville, dans un esprit de partage, de curiosité et d’ouverture, a développé tout un programme de médiation et d’échanges, proposant ainsi, depuis la semence des graines à la création, une réflexion radicale sur une relation plus empathique avec notre environnement.

DE Sensorial Symphonies ist die neue Kreation von Elisabeth Schilling. Darin rückt die Choreografin die Pflanzenwelt in den Mittelpunkt und erkundet die Verbindung der Menschen zur Natur und zu ihren Weisheiten. Schillings zentrale Frage lautet: Was wäre, wenn wir die Welt wie Pflanzen wahrnehmen könnten? Musikalisch verbindet das Stück Sergei Rachmaninows berühmtes Klavierkonzert Nr. 2 mit einer neuen Komposition von Pascal Schumacher und Soundelementen der Plant Philharmonic. Mit fünf Tänzerinnen versucht Schilling ihr Publikum in ein Universum der multisensorischen Erfahrung mitzunehmen und ihm eine radikale Veränderung der Wahrnehmung zu ermöglichen, die es zu einer tieferen, einfühlsameren Beziehung zur Umwelt einlädt. Ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm begleitet das Stück.
