Synopsis:
Antonio Machado died on February 22, 1939, in the French town of Collioure – where he had arrived barely a month before after fleeing the recently turned Franco's Spain in order to seek exile. The 80th anniversary of this event was celebrated in 2019, and the filmmaker Laura Hojman -whose great sensitivity to the subject brought to life the often overlooked period of poet Rubén Darío life in her first time as director for the documentary Tierra solares (Solar Lands, 2018)- paid tribute to the memory and work of the Sevillian poet with her award-winning documentary Antonio Machado. Sinopsis:
Antonio Machado falleció un 22 de febrero de 1939 en la población francesa de Colliure, donde había llegado apenas un mes antes tras abandonar la España recientemente sometida por el franquismo en busca de continuar con su vida en el exilio. En 2019 se celebró el 80 aniversario de esta efeméride, y la cineasta Laura Hojman, que ya había dado muestras de una gran sensibilidad para llevar al cine un poco conocido episodio de la vida del poeta Rubén Darío en su primera incursión como directora en el documental Tierras solares (2018), rindió tributo a la memoria y la obra del poeta sevillano con su multipreamiado documental Antonio Machado.
